About Cotoletta

Cotoletta is the culmination of a decades-long friendship between Rochester Real Estate Developer Jay W. and Executive Chef Jay Speranza. ‍ Compelled by their love of Rochester's old school delis, pizza shops and eateries, the Jays dreamed up a little joint that could serve as an ode to the city's rich Italian culture and history.

Cotoletta, meaning cutlet in Italian, is a subtle dive into Rochester's yesteryears. Complete with faux wood paneled walls, flickering old neon, and enough laminate and pleather to worry the EPA, Cotoletta feels as comfy as your Nonna's old basement rec room.

So grab a pie, a sangwich, a cannoli, and a drink and fuhgeddabout life for a little while. Welcome to Cotoletta.

The appetizer was amazing, we got the fried mozzarella. This got us Incredibly excited for our main meal, which ended up being a massive let down. Both sandwiches seemed over done and flavorless. The bread was so hard a knife wouldn't cut it. Ended up piecing it out and eating just the meat inside. For a chicken cutlet from an Italian place, big disappointment. The lack of service is odd, as well as being required to pay when you order your food (and tip) instead of after. A meal for two of us was $70 with waters to drink. 1 appetizer, 2 sandwiches and 1/2 order fries. Hard pass. Won't be going again.

Stopped in for dinner as it had been well over a year since dining here. My dining companion had the Alphonse sangwich which was recommended by a patron we mwtnthere. I wanted something different than a handheld and went for the rigatoni. The rigatoni was pretty good. My companion couldn't stop raving about the Alphonse. Sounds like a dish you should try. πŸ˜‰

Coletta’s has a really unique setup that can feel a little unconventional at first, but the waitress bartender was very kind and took the time to explain how everything works, which made the experience much smoother. The Caprese sandwich was so yummy, super fresh and flavorful and definitely a standout. The arancini wasn’t terrible, but parts of it were pretty cold in the middle, which was a little off putting. Overall, the friendly service really stood out, but I probably wouldn’t go back.

We really enjoyed the sandwiches and fries, the ingredients were so fresh tasting and the flavor combinations so interesting and delicious. I can't wait to come back to try more! They were quite busy when we went, which was expected, on a Wednesday evening so it was loud and the background music was loud. I would like to try the outdoor seating in the warmer months. The service was decent. The decor is so fun.

First time checking this restaurant out tonight with 3 other adults and 2 toddlers. Great atmosphere for families. Loved the style of ordering at the counter then going to sit and having our food brought to us. Management came over to see how our food was, everyone was helpful and friendly. Drinks were great, food was AWESOME! Delicious bread... Sandwiches were next level!
